"mysterious, cosmic expanses"
an audiovisual meditation on space, above & between

MOON LANGUAGE is an immersive audiovisual installation-performance in which composer-pianist and intermedia artist Michaela Rea Catranis invites audiences into a fluid, ethereal sonic world, paired with bespoke visuals.

Unfolding over 50 minutes in a continuous flow of sound and imagery, the work orbits around piano music interwoven with field recordings and spoken word. The experience is designed to draw listeners into a deeply meditative state, where sound and image merge into a single, evolving atmosphere.

Each piece melts seamlessly into the next, mirroring the work’s central theme: human connection — with sound, with ourselves, and with one another — experienced collectively under a shared sky.
The title Moon Language is inspired by a line from the poet Hafiz, who speaks of “that sweet moon language” as a powerful pull toward love and human closeness: “and why not become the one with a full moon in each eye, saying what every other eye in this world is dying to hear?”
